Reaching Out is a textural study of a seated model that appears to be stretching for something beyond the picture plane.  I especially like the light effect and the textural marks the charcoal made on the quality drawing paper.

Whenever I work from a model I always try to achieve a strong visual effect that goes beyond the image of the sitter.  In this one the strong light effect gives the girl a dramatic look that draws the viewer into an intimate scene.  

I like to work from both males and females but I prefer to work from the female form.  The drawing is in a white mat.

I taught in the Art Department of Radford University for a twenty years as Assistant professor. I taught Art Appreciation, Drawing, Oil Painting, Watercolor painting, Foundations, and served as Gallery Director for one year.I enjoyed working with Art and Design students.
