I have been using hardboard to paint on for decades and I always draw a diagram for the clerk so they can get the 8' x 4' piece cut in the sizes I need.
Yesterday, a clerk kept explaining to me that I could not get those sizes exactly right due to the size of the saw blade which is 1/8 of an inch.
I explained to him that I have been doing this for decades and always got the sizes I needed. After a lot of polite arguing I said if he just cut on the hardboard as indicated in my diagram they should be all right. An 1/8 of an inch would not be a problem.
After he made several cuts he discovered that the 8' piece of hardboard was actually 8' and 1/2 inch long. Weird.
Glad he measured it or the pieces would have been off. He took off that 1/2 an inch and I got what I needed.
