Strange Labels

A while back I decided to start a pantry in case of disasters. Just thought it would be a good idea in case something horrible happens.

Anyway, one of the items I stocked up on was organic canned tomatoes. I bought small and large cans at about the same time.

I didn't look at the best used by dates since canned goods usually last a very long time. Yesterday I thought I had better check them and was surprised to see that the small cans do not go out of date until 2027 but the large cans have just gone out of date so we are going to eat them up in the next few days.

I mostly bought small cans. Weird! Why such a difference in best used by dates?
