Very Strange

I have been going to lumber yards for many decades to get materials for shipping crates.

When the clerk brought me the 1x2 I knew that it was not two inches. There was a measuring tape nearby and it turned out to be one and a half inches.

The clerk scanned the label and it came up 1x2. The crate would have been too narrow so I told him I had better get a 1x3.

This time he measured it and it was two and a half inches. What is going on? Strange errors.
